The Indiana legislature is considering SB 88, a bill that would require schools to include a version of the “success sequence” in their good citizenship instruction.
The “success sequence” refers to the idea that if young people get at least a high school diploma, get a full-time job, and get married before having children-- and do so in that order-- they are less likely to end up poor. The idea has been boosted by a paper from the conservative think tanks American Enterprise Institute and the Institute for Family Studies.
