Dr. Nicholas Zill is an American research psychologist, child development expert, and senior fellow at the Institute for Family Studies. He is recognized for widely cited research findings on the learning, emotional, and behavioral issues of children whose parents divorce or have a high-conflict relationship, as well as those of step-, foster, and adopted children, and children in welfare families. He directed the landmark National Survey of Children and the Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey and contributed to several major longitudinal studies of children and families. He is the author or coauthor of peer-reviewed journal articles, books and book chapters, technical reports and blog posts that are cited nearly 12,000 times by social scientists (see Google Scholar) and have often been referenced in the popular press.
