Single Americans want their romantic partners to make 6 figures: Study

(NewsNation) — A 2026 study of 4,375 U.S. adults found that single Americans who say income is important in a potential lifelong partner believe their partners should make at least six figures annually.

The data, part of Northwestern Mutual’s 2026 Planning & Progress Study, found that respondents expected their partners to earn an average of $139,000 per year, with the figures varying widely by gender and age.
