Author of the book, Dr. Brad Wilcox, director of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia, joins to tell us more about the decision to write this book and his career of studying the benefits of marriage. One of his biggest points of emphasis is that married people are just a whole lot happier than unmarried people. Dr. Wilcox shares how much happier they are and why.
He pointed out a few indicators for these happy, sustained marriages, such as frequent date nights and even joint checking accounts, but he says one of the most important is shared faith and churchgoing. Dr. Wilcox discusses what the data says. Another very encouraging data point from his book shows that divorce is on the decline. Dr. Wilcox explains what the numbers are indicating this and why he thinks people are choosing to stay together.
