Divorce has seen a significant decline since the early 1980s, according to analysis by the Pew Research Center.
The refined divorce rate peaked at 22.6 divorces per 1,000 married women around 1980, Pew said, citing federal data. That rate fell slightly to 20.5 in 2008, but has dropped more significantly since then to 14.4 in 2023.
