2026

August 14th

Day trading might seem like the high-risk, high-reward activity that only specialists would engage in. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. In a survey by the Institute for Family Studies, we found that 38% of male students ages 18 to 29 traded stocks daily. This compares to just 14% of young men with a bachelor’s degree and 21% of those without a degree who day trade. We found that young men who day trade are nearly twice as likely to report feeling like a failure as those who do not. Notably, men in school are also more likely to gamble, play video games, and watch pornography daily.
